WELCOME TO THE MISSISSIPPI CHAPTER OF SWANA

The Mississippi “Magnolia” Chapter of the Solid Waste Association of North America (SWANA) strives to promote excellence in solid waste management in Mississippi. Through the development of local and regional conferences and training seminars, and working with the SWANA International, Mississippi SWANA encourages environmentally and economically sound solid waste management practices.

Meet Mr. Jamie Shaw, Assistant Director of Environmental Services for the City of Oxford MS.

Jamie has served in the City of Oxford Environmental Services department for over 25 years. He has been a dedicated Assistant Director who shows up for his staff to get the job done. He has been a mentor to me by showing me the ropes of the solid waste industry. He is extremely knowledgeable about solid waste and knows each piece of equipment like the back of his hand. He is supportive and encouraging to his employees and leads by exemplary example. He is a natural leader and provides excellent guidance for each employee in our department. He deserves every ounce of appreciation and more. He teaches and trains employees to be as knowledgeable as him. He strives to reach excellence each day and complete a job. I have had the privilege of learning much of what I know about the solid waste industry from Jamie. Jamie is the go-to in our department for solid waste and equipment questions and concerns. He ensures that our daily operations are smooth and on track. There is truly no one more deserving of this award as he reflects the solid waste industry in such a positive light.

Thank you Jamie for being a spotlight for the Solid Waste Industry!

Mr. Jamie Shaw
